Kwaku has photographed some of the most influential faces of our time—from Oscar and Grammy Award winners to President Barack Obama and the First Family. His portraits feel fresh and unaffected, while still honoring the extraordinariness of his subjects. The work strikes a balance between contemporary documentary sensibility and classic celebrity portraiture.
After graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Kwaku launched his career in New York City, quickly shooting for major magazines and advertising agencies in his early twenties. Today, he is based between New York and Los Angeles, with work spanning movie posters, covers of bestselling books, and advertising campaigns and commercial spots for international brands.
Beyond commercial work, Kwaku has partnered with a range of charities and nonprofit organizations, including the DesignACure Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, Black AIDS Institute, Smiley Faces Foundation, and Project Angel Food.
In 2025, Kwaku received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he also delivered the commencement address for the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences.
